Network Planning
Network planning is generally defined here as the task of determining the number and location of cell sites that may be required to satisfy a given service area's RF signal strength (coverage) as well as voice channel requirements (capacity). The various technologies (AMPS, TACS, GSM, CDMA, TDMA, etc.) will require some variations in coverage as well as in capacity assumptions. The process of determining the most appropriate number of cell sites for a given cellular system requires a detailed understanding of the impact of different capacity and coverage requirements.
